GMP (Neil Morton) designer of Bank bar is winner of BEDA Interior Design Award
At what is described as the UK nightclub industry's version of the Oscars, Lichfield-based GMP Design Associates, won the UK's most prestigious nightclub and bar interior design award for its stunning design of the high profile late night venue, minibar in Harrogate.
The company headed by local man, Neil Morten, beat off stiff competition to win the BEDA Interior Design Award at the British Entertainment and Dance Association's (BEDA) Awards staged at the Hilton Metropole in Birmingham, and in front of more than 1000 of the UK's biggest nightclub and bar owners. No less than six other nominees were up for the top prize, but judges felt that GMP, who has been based in Lichfield for almost 20 years, produced the best design.
A delighted Neil Morten, along with his design team, were on hand to pick up the award.

"This is a great achievement for the company and the people who work for it," said Morten. "The other nominees are all city-based and have a much bigger staff than GMP have. Which goes to show that providing you have passionate people with creative and innovative ideas, it doesn't how many you have working for you, you can still produce award-winning ideas."
minibar, Harrogate, North Yorkshire
Set within the Royal Baths complex in the Spa town of Harrogate, minibar is a 7,000sq.ft visually vibrant space, capable of hosting 750 patrons in comfort, opulence and luxury. The seven-day a week operation, owned by world-famous club brand, Ministry of Sound, has been deliberately designed into five very individual zones, creating intimacy and atmosphere during the quieter nights, while being able to offer a 'big' venue environment in peak trading.
The post-modern minimalist design, is perfectly illustrated in the main bar area. The use of granite on the island bar-tops, tiling and expansive 'chesterfield' padded walls provide a perfect canvas for the effects lighting, retro throne furniture, and blend seamlessly within the listed-building environment.
In contrast, GMP Design use of bespoke fabrics and alternative finishes throughout the rest of the venue adds to the drama. Butted glass, make the VIP space an intended voyeuristic feast, which uses a profound amount of technology to entertain; including automated drinks ordering via an elaborate Epos system, plasma screens and a Jacuzzi space.
GMP Design have a successful reputation both nationally and internationally thanks to stunning and innovative design work and currently have a list of clients that include some of the biggest nightclub, bar and hotel owners in the world.
